FEMINISM IS ESSENTIAL

This week, a 14 year old Pakistani TikToker living in the west was lured back to Pakistan and unalived by her father and uncle.

Her crime? She dared to be on tiktok!.

But there are Pakistani boys residents in Pakistan who are active on TikTok and social media as a whole. Yet, nothing has or will be done to them

If you hear this story and feel that the Paskitani girl deserves the right to be on TikTok like her male counterparts, that is Feminism.

Somebody on that post was called a feminist for questioning the girl’s murder.

She went on rampage, explaining, cursing out -in an attempt to wash the tag off herself.

Makes me wonder…

Why women get angry when they are called feminists?

Why do they try to explain it away?

Why are you, an African woman, angry over a concept that gave you freedom?

Now you can venture into any career you want.

Now you can vote.

Now you can choose to get married or not, choose who to get married to, and when to get married.

Feminism made all that possible.

I’d love to say every female is a feminist passively or actively.

But I must admit there are women who love to pander to the whims of men at the expense of their own freedom.

See!

The definition of feminism has two versions; the average Nigerian man’s version and the dictionary version.

Whose version is more likely to be correct?

But you’d rather chose the Naija man’s version over the correct version because?

You want to be called virtuous woman by a man who thinks you deserve to die for visiting a man?

Even if Naija man’s version na the real definition sef

Gini we mezie?

Men have unalived women for flimsy excuses since I was a zygote.

Men will even unalive men for looking and acting like women.

But Feminism is the concept humans are worried about?

How many Feminists have unalived men for being men?

My maternal grandfather was a feminist.

At a time when his kinsmen strongly abhorred female education and would rather chew towel than send their daughters to school, my maternal grandfather ensured his daughters had education to any level they want,

Even on his deathbed, his last wish to his wife my maternal grandma was to ensure my mum, a sixth grader at that time, get educated up to a higher level.

Dear fine geh, broaden your knowledge on the concept of feminism so you don’t huff and puff everytime you’re called one.

Before I even knew the word feminism, I was a feminist.

Calling me “Ifenemisi’ will change absolutely nothing.

Oya Good morning!!!!
